Park the horse, slacken the girth,
Haul off the boots ,Feet up , bum down, break out the Gin. 
  It's time to relax and socialise.

After lengthy deliberation at the recent AGM it was decided that the club could do with a social secretary. Excellent suggestion & long overdue, the same few people can't be expected to arrange everything. 

Just before the first " but" resounds across the room, even before the first butt lifts off its chair in outrage.... Can I just say how much we all appreciate those who have been organising social events for years. Those who have done this as well as other , frequently onerous functions within the club. People have put real work in, and this has been greatly appreciated. So a huge thank you to all concerned. You all know who you are.

For a number of reasons, this would seem like a particularly good time to make this move, and top put the social life of the club on a more organised footing. It is time consuming, numbers can be substantial and with today's prices serious cash can be involved. this obviously has to be safely processed and accounted for.

As with most groups with a fairly random cross section of members, we have a bit of a "generation rump" of us BabyBoomers and those of similar age. Sadly we are getting towards that time when we no longer bounce, on falling. As falls however infrequent tend to be much more painful, and involve more bent bits than they used to, somehow the thrill of sailing over nine foot coffins seems to be getting to be more of an "Oh SHIT ! this is going to hurt". The thrill bit seems to have turnrd into blind terror.

At times like these, the pleasures and excitement of a huge cross country course seems to be so much better if we allow the fruit of our loins, to do the actual sitting (or not)on the horse bit. Live through the kids why not |!!

Oh what heresy, and no thunderbolt has hit me yet.

Anyway, the point I am confabulating towards is that there are probably, a few of us who look at the social calendar more than the Event Calendar.

This makes a dedicated social secretary such a good idea, and not only that, there is somebody stupid enough willing to do it.  So thank you to Jacinta for volunteering, and putting her neck on the block.
